What is a loyalty card?

A loyalty card lets a business recognise you as a member and give you benefits for coming back—typically points, discounts, rewards, or member-only prices. Here is the whole idea in four frames.

    At checkout, the store scans the card barcode or looks up the account. The programme may add points, apply member pricing, or record progress toward a reward.

    Many loyalty cards still have a static barcode. That barcode identifies the membership; it is separate from the payment card used to pay.

What is a digital loyalty card?

A digital loyalty card is the same card without the plastic: the barcode or QR code that identifies your account, shown from your phone instead of a wallet. Loyalty programmes can use plastic cards, key tags, a brand’s app, or a card stored in a digital wallet. The card’s form can change, but its job stays the same: identify a customer account when the store needs it. A barcode wallet such as Save Barcode is useful for the physical and digital cards that have a static barcode or QR code.

Can I put a loyalty card on my phone?
